Shimla:
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has decided to campaign in Himachal Pradesh ahead of Assembly elections in the state next month.
Mr Modi will hold three rallies in Mandi, Kangra and Una districts on Monday.
"He has indicated a tentative date that he has spared specifically for campaigning in Himachal Pradesh despite the fact that he is busy with elections in Gujarat," confirmed Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, in-charge of central election management and coordination unit of the party.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, BSP chief Mayawati and BJP senior leader LK Advani too will hold election rallies for their respective parties in poll-bound Himachal Pradesh.
Dr Singh will hold address an election rally in Una town, a Congress leader said.
Mr Advani will start his campaign in the state with a rally in Amb, just 30 km from Manmohan Singh's rally venue. BJP spokesperson Ganesh Dutt said that Mr Advani would address the rally at 1 pm. "He (Advani) is likely to address a few more rallies in the next few days," he said.
Congress leaders said that party president Sonia Gandhi, the first political leader to launch the campaign in the state from Mandi town, would hold rallies in Shimla and Kangra towns on October 30, three days before the campaigning comes to an end.
Polling for the 68 assembly seats in Himachal Pradesh will be held November 4. The votes will be counted only on December 20, after the Gujarat assembly polls are over.
