Narrow escape for Mulayam's brother Shivpal Yadav after plane mishap

Narrow escape for Mulayam's brother Shivpal Yadav after plane mishap
New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh minister Shivpal Yadav, who is also the younger brother of Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, today had a close shave after an aircraft that he was travelling in got damaged while landing at the Delhi airport.

The incident took place around noon when the chartered nine-seater plane, owned by the UP government, skidded off runway 27 at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport after landing and the nose-wheel got stuck in the mud.

The plane, which had flown from Lucknow, had six people onboard at the time, including Mr Yadav and two pilots. The minister and his co-passengers were taken to the medical facility at the airport where they underwent treatment for minor injuries and were later declared completely fit.

The aviation regulator, Directorate general of Civil Aviation (DGCA), meanwhile has ordered an inquiry. Preliminary probe suggests that the aircraft might have developed a problem in the landing gear.
