Tamil Nadu calls it Jallikatu, but even without a fancy name the farmers and dairy owners of Nasik continue to host bullfights with the same kind of fervour.
On Sunday, the 70-year-old festival was held in Nasik. Ten bull owners contested for the coveted prize of Rs 5000, watched by an audience of approximately 1000 people.
The preparations for Jallikatu begin after Diwali and the animals are decorated and trained for their big match. A large field is chosen and the festivities follow effortlessly with donations from the villagers.
