New Delhi: Congress President Sonia Gandhi held a strategy session with party leaders and senior lawyers on Wednesday evening with regard to the National Herald Case.
P Chidambaram and Kapil Sibal were among the legal experts of the party who were present at the meeting. It was also attended by some of the Congress general secretaries.
Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad, and leader of the party in Lok Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, along with chief Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala, too, attended the meeting, party sources said.
Later, Mr Chidambaram and Mr Sibal also held a meeting with party lawmakers to brief them about the various aspects of the case so that they can counter the government. Parliament has been disrupted over the past few days, with the Congress alleging the government of "political vendetta".
Earlier in the day, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, the senior advocate for Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case, said that the court order in the matter was "unsustainable and erroneous".
He, however, said that does not mean that the party was casting any aspersions on the judiciary.
