Over a month after the incident, the National Investigation Agency has identified the second person killed in the Burdwan blast of October 2 as Abdul Karim.
Before he died in hospital, the victim had claimed that his name was Subhan Mandal and he hailed from Bengal's East Midnapore district.
The police had even visited the district to look for his family, but had drawn a blank.
Now, the NIA has identified him as Abdul Karim of Kafirpur village at Kirnahar in Bengal's Birbhum district. Karim reportedly left home some months, ago saying he was going to find work in Kerala or Chennai.
Amjad Ali Sheikh, the suspect who was arrested in connection with the blast on Monday, may have helped the agency identify Karim, said sources, as the two were reportedly related.
Amjad Alki is likely to have revealed Abdul Karim's identity during interrogation.
Karim, along with Sakil Ahmed, owner of the blast-hit house in Burdwan's Khagragath, was killed on October 2 when the explosive material accidentally went off.
It is suspected that both had links with banned terror group Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh.
The NIA has arrested six people so far including Sheikh Rehmatullah aka Sajid, believed to be a Bangladeshi national and mastermind of the Burdwan terror module, and Amjad Sheikh, a resident of Birbhum district who worked in Kolkata and allegedly procured chemicals needed to make explosives.
