The BJP today accused the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD government of "failing" on all fronts and compounding miseries of poor people in Odisha.
"BJD government failed on all fronts. It was unable to solve problems faced by people due to its gross inefficiency," BJP national general secretary and Odisha in-charge, Arun Singh said.
Claiming that BJD government's dismal show had left the people disillusioned and unhappy, Mr Singh said people are now showing overwhelming support to BJP on many issues.
Failure of the BJD government had been thoroughly exposed during the last one year in instances like the fiasco during the sacred and secret "Brahma Paribartan" ritual during Lord Jagannath's 'nabakalebar' festival and 'inept' handling of land scam and drought situation, he said.
Charging BJD leaders with having nexus with fake self-proclaimed godmen, the BJP leader said people were angry with the government over alleged police excesses on people in Kendrapara before the arrest of 'godman' Sarathi Baba recently.
The state government also failed to mitigate the plight of farmers as it could not properly deal with the drought situation in the state, he said.
"Miseries of poor people, farmers and backward sections are compounded because of the state government's inefficiency," Singh said adding the state witnesses largescale migration as BJD failed to generate employment.
Stating that the BJP stood by the distressed people while the BJD regime happened to be in deep slumber, Mr Singh said people now found a new ray of hope in their party which is all set to wrest power in the state by winning the next Assembly polls.
Stating that a number of steps were being taken to further strengthen the party in Odisha, he said organizational elections would be complete by November.
With a thrust on inner party democracy, BJP seeks to give greater representation to all sections including women, SCs, STs, dalits and professionals, he said.
