Naveen Patnaik writes to PM again, asks for meeting of all chief ministers
New Delhi: Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik has written another letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, opposing the powers to be vested in the proposed National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC). This is Mr Patnaik's third letter to Dr Singh on the issue.

In this letter, Mr Patnaik has urged the PM to call for a meeting of all chief ministers

He has criticised the Centre's move to call a meeting of all Director Generals of Police without consulting the chief ministers of the state.

The Centre had called for a meeting of all state police chiefs on March 9.

"Why call a meeting of DGPs when chief ministers have not been consulted in the matter," Mr
Patnaik says in the letter.

In his second letter, Mr Patnaik had urged the PM to "initiate dialogue with states on the anti-terror body".  (Read letter)

The NCTC, which was meant to become operational on March 1, is facing stiff resistance from seven chief ministers, all from non-Congress ruled states who contend that the body grossly violates the federal structure of polity as enshrined in the Constitution.
