Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti has appointed her principal secretary and other officials in the chief ministers' secretariat.
Srinagar:
A week after she took over as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti has finally appointed her principal secretary and other officials in the chief ministers' secretariat.
Senior IAS officer Navin Choudery will be the principal secretary to Chief Minister. Mr Choudery is considered an upright officer who has served at various important positions. The orders were issued by the state cabinet today, in which 19 other IAS and 7 KAS officers were also transferred.
Ms Mufti has also appointed two special secretaries in the CM secretariat and other officials to make her office functional, which was running with just two officials for the last one week.
Sources say Ms Mufti wants to strengthen CM secretariat so that it can monitor the functioning all departments and ministries in the state.
In the first cabinet meeting chaired by Ms Mufti, the new government has announced several welfare schemes, including additional foodgrains for people to supplement distribution of rice under the National Food Security Act, NFSA.
The cabinet has also ordered the establishment of four women police stations in the state. So far, there are just two women police stations in Srinagar and Jammu cities.
