Amid speculations of Navjot Singh Sidhu joining Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal today said the cricketer-turned-politician has no ideology and his joining the opposition ranks will have no impact on the assembly elections in the state.
Replying to a question on the former Amritsar MP, Mr Badal said, "I have no enmity with Sidhu. I had supported him for long time. But he speaks against me as it gives him publicity."
"Sidhu has no ideology. He left himself in the market for making deals. He was bargaining with both Congress and AAP," Mr Badal said at an event in New Delhi.
He added that Mr Sidhu joining Congress will have "no impact" on the state assembly elections next year. In the past, Mr Sidhu, notwithstanding BJP's alliance with SAD, had criticised Sukhbir Badal on many occasions.
Speculations of Mr Sidhu's joining Congress have become more loud after his wife - Navjot Kaur Sidhu - joined the party last month along with Olympian Pargat Singh.
