Mumbai:
As the Navratri red carpet rolls out and dancers start filing in for nine nights of revelry, for Mumbai police, these will be long nights.
Since the terror attacks Mumbai has been on high alert. The city's police have off and on received information about possible attacks during public gatherings.
So, police have erected monitoring towers around all celebration areas, each manned by 4-5 policemen.
Organisers have been asked to install CCTVs at the Navratri grounds and monitor the feed till the programmes are over.
They have also been asked to install metal detectors at all entry and exit points.
All the parking areas will be manned by the police, who have also trained 1000 volunteers in crowd management and how to identify explosives.
"All volunteers have been given training by the policemen," said Ganesh Naidu, a Navratra Organiser.
All in all, it will be a highly watched Navratri in more ways than one.
