Gaya:
The Naxals have called for a two-day bandh across three states of Jharkhand, West Bengal and Bihar starting today.
Suspected Maoists shot two persons near Lalgarh on Monday killing one, injuring the other who was rushed to hospital. In Orissa too Maoists set fire to 2 buses at the Orissa-Andhra Pradesh border.
Indian Railways has cancelled and diverted some other trains passing through or originating out of these states besides restricting speed of flagship Rajdhani Express.
The measures are aimed at preventing any untoward incident during this period especially after Naxals last month targeted Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express during a similar bandh, derailing the train near Gaya.
Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee had told Parliament just last week that Maoist violence and bandhs had cost the Railways Rs 500 crore while asking the states to provide security to rail passengers and property.
