NDTV impact: Help pours in for IIT hopeful

Khammam, AP: On Friday, NDTV brought you the story of Narasimha, a labourer in a remote village in Andhra Pradesh who cracked the IIT entrance exam.

The 18-year-old has to attend counselling at IIT Madras for which he does not have the money. After watching the NDTV report aired since Friday evening, many viewers have offered to help Narasimha go that extra mile.

Narasimha's hands will hopefully carry books of Electronics and Communication soon instead of the rural employment guarantee scheme job card.

Some viewers want to sponsor his travel and stay in Chennai while some want to buy him books and sponsor his education after he gets a seat.

",I can start my engineering. Otherwise I thought I had to stop studies and continue working in the field. To all good people, I will say my many thanks,", says Narasimha.

Narasimha hails from Khammam district, one of the most backward districts in the country. The overwhelming response from NDTV viewers coupled with his determination, will help the budding engineer go very far in life.
