Leh:
At Sabu village, completely ravaged by the cloud burst, the 40 year old Yashkin was still shaken by the tragedy even though her house was one of the few that survived.
Everything else has been reduced to rubble: schools, houses and monasteries.
"We can get back everything we lost but not our neighbors, all my neighbors died," said the rueful Yashkin.
A few kilometers away is a 12 year old Phunsuk who lost her entire family.
"We ran away. They still haven't been able the retrieve the bodies of my parents," said the doleful Phunsuk.
The tented colony is home for hundreds of displaced families from Saboo, Choglamsar and other areas of Ladakh for the last one month; all that they are praying for now is that the rehabilitation work must be completed before the winter sets in.
Winter comes early in Ladakh and before that a mammoth task of reconstruction is on the hands.
Men and machines are on the job.
The debris is being cleared from the roads.
Electricity has been restored but it will still be a few weeks before the telephone lines can be restored.
One month after they lost everything to the cloud burst, the government has taken first step towards their rehabilitation by giving them plots free of cost.
"We have got the plots, we are very happy. When we construct the houses, we will be even happier," said Namlog, a resident.
People are satisfied with the pace of rehabilitation work but with so much to do it will be a while before Ladakh is back on its feet.
