New Delhi:
It took two - actor Ranveer Singh and politician Farooq Abdullah - to tango at the NDTV Indian of the Year awards in New Delhi on February 2, and their impromptu dance-off swiftly went viral.
Farooq Abdullah, 78, found himself trending on Twitter after matching Ranveer, 30, step for step to the tune of Malhari from the actor's last film, Bajirao Mastani.
In a delighted tweet, photographer Atul Kasbekar asked Mr Abdullah's son Omar Abdullah for 'video evidence' of the National Conference leader's previous dance routines. The video has since been watched over a million times on Facebook.
On stage, he suggested that Bollywood's biggest star might be worried if the National Conference leader switched careers. "I think Mr Bachchan would be in trouble if you took to acting," Ranveer told Mr Abdullah. "I would have loved to be an actor but will have to wait for the next life," Farooq Abdullah replied.
Farooq Abdullah was presenting Ranveer Singh with the award for Entertainer of the Year. Ranveer Singh was seen last year in the well-received Dil Dhadakne Do and Bajirao Mastani, winning the Filmfare Best Actor Award for his performance as the Maratha leader Peshwa Bajirao I.

Mr Abdullah's dance partner also thought he did good. In separate tweets, Ranveer described Mr Abdullah as a 'rockstar' and 'too cool for school.'Thank goodness it was @RanveerOfficial & not his significant other :) https://t.co/uCXK1cIrpt
