After Retest, Haryana NEET Centre With Most Top Scorers Gave This Result...

A NEET testing centre in Haryana, which had six students scoring a perfect 720 out of 720 marks, now shows a stark contrast with no one scoring above 682 as seen in the city-wise results declared by the National Testing Agency (NTA) today.

An analysis of the NEET results revealed that Hardayal Public School in Haryana's Bahadurgarh had a total of 494 students appearing for the exam. Among them, the highest score was 682, achieved by only one student. Additionally, only 13 students managed to score above 600 marks.

The controversy surrounding the centre began when the NEET exam data was uploaded earlier, showing six students with perfect scores.  Additionally, two candidates scored 718 and 719 marks respectively. The improbability of such a feat led to widespread suspicion and uproar. The Supreme Court intervened, cancelling the grace marks that had been awarded and ordering 1,563 candidates to retake the exam. Of these, about 800 students appeared for the re-examination.

The NTA announced the centre and city-wise results following a Supreme Court order. The results, initially declared on June 5, were re-published to mask the identities of the aspirants. This measure aimed to determine whether candidates from allegedly tainted centres scored disproportionately high marks compared to those from other centres.

The NEET-UG exam, held on May 5, took place across 4,750 centres in 571 cities, including 14 international locations, accommodating over 24 lakh candidates. Allegations of irregularities, including a paper leak, have put the exam under intense scrutiny.

The Supreme Court is set to resume hearings on the matter on July 22, addressing multiple petitions seeking the cancellation of the exam, a re-test, and a court-monitored probe into the allegations of malpractice.

NDTV's Analysis 

NDTV's analysis of the NEET data also spotlighted two other centres - Oasis Public School in Bihar's Hazaribagh, and Jalaram International in Gujarat's Godhra.

At Oasis Public School, where the principal was arrested in the paper leak case, 701 students took the exam. The highest score here was below 700, with seven students scoring above 650, 23 above 600, and 46 above 550.

Jalaram International School reported that 1,838 students appeared for NEET. The highest score was under 700, with five students scoring above 650, 14 above 600, and 31 above 550.

Experts suggest that these scores are within expected ranges and do not indicate anomalies. However, contrasting results from an Ahmedabad centre, where 12 of 676 students scored above 700, may raise questions during the Supreme Court hearing on Monday.

Across India, the town of Sikar in Rajasthan has emerged as a notable hub for NEET success, with students from this district achieving record-breaking marks. Remarkably, 149 students from Sikar have scored over 700 marks, setting a high benchmark in the national examination. In addition, 2,037 students from the area have secured more than 650 marks, and a total of 4,297 students have achieved scores above 600. 

Twenty-nine of the 50 top-performing centres are located in Sikar. A total of 6,038 students from Sikar attained more than 550 marks, and 8,225 students surpassed the 500-mark threshold. This exceptional success has taken both teachers and parents by surprise, as such a high concentration of top scores from a single district is unprecedented. 

Rajkot School of Engineering in Gujarat stands out with the highest number of top scorers. Out of 1,968 students who appeared at this centre, 112 achieved scores above 700-the highest among all centres. Additionally, 112 students scored above 650, marking a significant achievement.

Powai Engineering College in Tamil Nadu's Numakkal saw 1,017 students sit for the exam, with only two students surpassing 700 marks and 52 students achieving over 650 marks.
