New Delhi: Indian Railways on Thursday said it will launch AC double-decker train service between New Delhi and Lucknow shortly.
"We have got the clearance from commissioner railway safety (CRS) for the double-decker train for Lucknow," Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said on the sidelines of a function in New Delhi.
The launch date of the new train service was not disclosed. However, the new train service is expected to be flagged-off early next month before Holi.
The new double-decker service between New Delhi and Lucknow is expected to have 12 coaches having 110 seats each. The service is expected to run at a maximum speed of 110 km per hour.
Currently, the railways operate AC double-decker service on select routes such as Delhi-Jaipur.
