New Lawmaker Showcases Traditional Dance

New Delhi: Many newly elected MPs today came to parliament in their traditional dresses including headgear, and one of them performed a traditional dance before entering the House.

BJP MP from Surendranagar Devajibhai Fatepara was in traditional attire and performed a traditional dance before entering the Parliament.

"I am from Surendranagar and this is our traditional dress of Kathiwar region," Mr Fatepara said after doing an impromptu dance move at the main gate.

He was emphatic about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision. "In 15 years, Gujarat has made tremendous progress... Our PM has a vision and our India will also reach a new height in the next five years," the Surendranagar MP said.

Another MP from Gujarat, Mohanbhai Kundariya, who won on BJP ticket from Rajkot, was also in his tradition dress.

TRS MP from Mahabubabad A Seetaram Naik came in a traditional Vanzara dress complete with a colourful turban.

"I am from Telengana," Mr Naik proudly declared before entering the House.

Asked about his dress, Mr Naik said "It is a Vanzara tradition."

Film-star turned MPs Vinod Khanna followed by Shatrughan Sinha were, however, in their usual formal wear of trouser and shirt.

Another Bollywood personality Kirron Kher, who had won from Chandigarh on BJP ticket, made a V (victory) sign before stepping into the Parliament.

New Delhi MP Meenakshi Lekhi said whatever the issue concerning to the constituency and the promises made during the elections will be fulfilled.

She said we will discuss the various problems being faced in New Delhi constituency with the government to solve them.
