New Delhi: With the goal of energy conservation driving its design, which has been drawn up by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), a new office building of the Tourism Ministry is coming up in New Delhi with Union Minister Mahesh Sharma laying its foundation stone today.
The 'Paryatan Bhavan' will feature a solar-power rooftop system, rainwater harvesting facility, recycling of water through sewage treatment plant and low water discharge fixtures.
The foundation stone for the Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Paryatan Bhawan on Mandir Marg in central Delhi was today laid by Union Culture and Tourism Minister Mahesh Sharma.
"This is a project of Ministry of Tourism for construction of multi-level car parking-cum new office building and has been assigned to NDMC for design and execution. Energy conservation measures are proposed to be adopted to optimise the overall design load," NDMC spokesperson Jagjivan Bakshi said.
The Rs 125 crore project for construction of the complex is likely to be completed in 18-24 months. The project is spread over an area of nearly 23,000sq.m.
"Rooftop high-efficiency solar panels are planned to achieve maximum energy saving. The basic design of building is targeted to achieve LEED India Platinum rating," said Bakshi.
"Energy-efficient air conditioning, geo-thermal heat exchange system, recycling of water through sewage treatment plant, dual piping, low-discharge water fixtures, rainwater harvesting and sensor urinals will be among the features of the building," he added.
