New Delhi: Central government employees have been asked to share photos and interesting details of their holidays to make it easier for their departments to give them travel allowance.

"Employees may be encouraged to share interesting insights and pictures, if any, of the destination he or she visited while availing LTC (Leave Travel Concession) on an appropriate forum," according to new rules finalised by the Department of Personnel and Training.

Officials say this will do away with fake tickets or fudged bills.
In the changed rules, officials also do not have to inform their bosses before going on a holiday. They are allowed to self-certify their trip.

All such claims will be settled in a maximum of a month's time, say the new rules. An additional 10 days will be given for the settling of dues related to travels by an employee if he is posted away from the headquarters.

Officials say there have been many complaints about "procedural difficulties" faced by employees when they claim holiday reimbursements.

"Sometimes, the government servants claim that failure to follow the correct procedure was on account of a lack of knowledge of the rules or instructions while in the other cases the delay is caused in the late processing of LTC claims," said a government statement.

"To remove these bottlenecks, this department has decided to simplify the procedure of application and make the procedure of processing of LTC claims time bound," it said.

The government has asked for feedback on the new guidelines within 15 days.
