New tax on 15-year-old vehicles in Maharashtra

Mumbai: The Maharashtra Government gets environment friendly. In an attempt to curb the pollution levels in the state,  It has decided to impose Environment Tax on 15-yr-old vehicles running in the state.

The decision has been taken by the Maharashtra Cabinet.

This is what the tax structure will be:

15-yr-old two wheelers: Rs 5000 for the next five years

15-yr-old petrol vehicles: Rs 3000 for the next five years

15-yr-old diesel vehicles: Rs 3500 for the next five years

Transport vehicles: Different slabs from Rs 750 to Rs 2500

The Maharashtra Government believes that the Environment tax will lead to vehicles going off the roads. This would severely impact the pollution levels helping bringing it down.
