Panaji: The Goa Police has asked news channels to submit footage that was broadcast last month and showed a Nigerian being assaulted by a mob.
He was attacked on October 31; the next day a group of 200 Nigerians clashed with the police and locals on a national highway. They were protesting against the murder of a Nigerian named Obado Simeon.
The man was admitted to hospital with serious head injuries where he later died.
"We had already filed a first information report against unknown persons. The tapes will help us identify those who actually assaulted the Nigerian national," police said.
