Delhi is on high-alert with intelligence agencies warning of the possibility of a suicide attack planned along the lines of last month's attempted ambush on an army camp in Samba in Jammu and Kashmir by the Jaish-e-Mohammed, based in Pakistan. Both terrorists were killed after a six-hour shootout; they were dressed in army uniforms.
A note found near one of them said, "We salute the martyrs who gave their lives for this attack. Next meeting in Delhi." Intelligence agencies are trying to track the origins of the note.
Intelligence agencies say that the Samba attack - and another a day earlier on a police station in the Jammu region - suggest that a number of Jaish-e-Mohammed members have crossed the border into India in the last few days
Additional security has been added to government buildings and popular places in Delhi by the police since the advisory from intel agencies was received last week.
The attack on the Army camp took place late in March in Samba near Jammu, just 20 kms from the border with Pakistan.
A day before that, two other members of the Jaish-e-Mohammed had had stormed a police station in Jammu's Kathua District, killing three security personnel and two civilians and injuring 11 others. The terrorists were also killed in the shootout.
