Aizawl: Mizoram remained cut-off from the rest of the country with National Highway 54, the lifeline of the state, was blocked after a massive landslide at Kawnpui town yesterday evening.
People stranded on the highway said that the landslide at Kawnpui was so massive that it looked like as if the entire mountain had collapsed.
Engineer-in-Chief of the state Public Works department Vanlaltluanga said concerted efforts were being made to clear the highway for vehicular traffic.
Vanlaltluanga said that the work to clear blockades were being hampered by many other landslides in different parts of the state.
