New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested an alleged 'sympathiser' of banned ISIS terror group. The arrest was made in West Bengal.

According to news agency Press Trust of India, the NIA identified the young man as one Ashiq Ahammed alias Raja, a resident of Hooghly district of the state.

Ahammed, who was arrested yesterday, will be produced before a special court in Delhi today for further custody.

The NIA had registered a case in this regard in December last year on charges that the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has been "engaged in radicalisation of young men and motivating them to join the terrorist organisation."

The National Investigation Agency had earlier arrested 14 young men in the case after a nationwide crackdown.
