The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested second shooter in the Congress leader Pawanraje Nimbalkar murder case.
The CBI said that six people have been arrested in the murder case till now.
Referring to the reason for the murder, the investigating authority also said that the motive behind it is political rivalry.
Earlier on Monday, NCP supporters rallied outside Panvel court for their leader and MP Padamsinh Patil who was arrested in connection with the murder of Nimbalkar in June 2006.
Patil's remand was extended till June 20, granted on grounds that the CBI needed to question him on the money trail. Other key accused Mohan Shukla and Parasmal Jain -- in their confessional statement -- have said that Patil paid them Rs One crore to kill Nimbalkar.
The CBI also located a man Pintu Singh from Uttar Pradesh. Pintu, the authorities claim, was the one who shot Nimbalkar.
Besides confessional statements there is little direct evidence against Patil -- a reason that the CBI might find it difficult to prove that he was the prime conspirator.
