Nine suspected Naxals have been killed in the border area of Sukma and Bijapur in Chhattisgarh in an ongoing encounter with security forces. At least 15 weapons have been seized from the site.
Sources say a helicopter has been flown in from Bhadrachalam in Andhra Pradesh to airlift bodies.
According to the Press Trust of India (PTI), Sukma SP Abishek Shandilya said a search was launched by the Greyhounds force of Andhra Pradesh and the district force early this morning after a tip off about the presence of Naxals in the forest area of Puarti village.
On spotting the security forces, Naxals opened fire in retaliation, he said,
