Kolhapur:
A day after his subtle message to the Shiv Sena, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today told reporters that everything is fine with the uneasy alliance with the Sena.
Speaking to reporters, Mr Fadnavis said, "BJP and Shiv Sena will fight the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections together." When asked about the Jaitapur Nuclear Power project, Mr Fadnavis said, "Our position on Jaitapur is clear and we are trying to bring the Shiv Sena on board."
But Mr Fadnavis once again told reporters that his government is pro-farmer and announced action against those delaying compensation sanctioned for farmers.
"If banks withhold compensation money, legal action will be taken against them. I have ordered the collector in Buldhana to give a three-day notice and file an FIR against a bank that had withheld four crores of compensation money," Mr Fadnavis said.
"We don't want to take farmer's land. When we acquire land for public projects we will compensate them handsomely. We will ensure that he feels that two generations have been taken of through the compensation," said Mr Fadnavis while defending the Land Acquisition Bill.
Also defending the Land Acquisition Bill was Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari who also defended the achievements of the NDA government and the future plans. "We haven't changed the law. 95 per cent of the law is the same. We have only made changes for national security and rural development. For affordable and low cost housing consent clause has been removed," Mr Gadkari said while talking about the Land Acquisition Bill. Mr Gadkari also highlighted initiatives like moving towards ethanol fuel and e-rickshaws.
