Patna: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar has reprimanded one of his ministers for promising a job to a woman who approached him for help.
The state's minister for Social Welfare, Jeetan Ram Manjh, met a Dalit woman a few months ago and gave her a note on his official letterhead. The note was addressed to local officials in Gaya and asked that she be considered for a Grade IV government job.
When nobody obliged, the woman showed up today morning at the chief minister's janata darbar where he invites people to see him about their problems at his residence in Patna.
When Mr Kumar saw the note, he ticked off the minister in public. An angry chief minister warned that ministers cannot promise government jobs based on their personal whims.
