Nitish Kumar didn't visit families of those who died, Narendra Modi will, says BJP

Nitish Kumar didn't visit families of those who died, Narendra Modi will, says BJP
Narendra Modi, who is running for prime minister, will visit Patna to meet the families of the six people who died in a series of bomb blasts.
New Delhi: Narendra Modi, who is the BJP's candidate for Prime Minister, will return to Patna on Saturday to meet the families of the six people, who died in a series of bomb blasts which ended just before his rally began last weekend.

"If Mr Modi wants to visit Patna again, we will ensure there is no security lapse this time around," said Devesh Thakur, a spokesperson for the ruling Janata Dal United. "But before Mr Modi visits the homes of those who died, he should meet the families of the thousands who died in the riots in Gujarat," he said.

Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar, ended the JDU's 17-year alliance with the BJP earlier this year, accusing his partner of promoting a "divisive leader" who does not enjoy the confidence of Muslims after the communal violence that seared Gujarat in 2002.

"Nitish Kumar didn't even pay tribute to the people who died in the blasts in his speech. This shows his insensitivity," said Sushil Kumar Modi of the BJP, targeting the Chief Minister of Bihar.

The BJP has blamed Mr Kumar for "gross criminal negligence", alleging that even basic security arrangements for Mr Modi's rally were deliberately overlooked.

83 people were injured in the attack, which is being studied now by the National Investigating Agency or NIA. The Bihar Police has blamed the terror group the Indian Mujahideen for the blasts, though the group has not claimed responsibility.
