Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad today criticised Union Minister General VK Singh for his controversial remark on the killing of two Dalit children at a village in Haryana recently and expressed concern at the state of affairs in the country.
"Aghast at the senseless comment made by some BJP leaders, including the Union minister, on tragic Dalit killings in Haryana," Mr Kumar said in a tweet.
Meanwhile, Mr Prasad tweeted, "Desh mein ye sab kya ho raha hai..mana ki jubaan mein haddi nahi hoti par Modi ke mantrion ki badjubaani desh ke reedh ki haddi tod rahi hai (what is happening in the country, one can understand that tongue's are boneless, but disparaging remarks by Modi's ministers are breaking the backbone of the country."
Observing that India was standing at crossroads, the RJD chief said that he had made a prophetic statement last year telling people that it was for them to decide whether the country would stay together.
"Desh kis muhane par khara hai? maine 2013 mein kaha tha desh tutega ya rahega, nirnaya aapko karna hai. meri baaton ko ansuna karne ka nateeja samne hai (Where is the country headed to? I had said in 2013 that it is for the people to decide whether or not the country should disintegrate. You ignored my pleas and the results are here before you)," Mr Prasad said.
Refusing to buy the Union Minister's clarification, the RJD leader said General Singh's remarks represented the original thoughts of the RSS and one who abused and exploited backwards and Dalits more will be glorified as big leaders by BJP and RSS.
General Singh today said the government cannot be held responsible for the murder of the two Dalit children in Haryana. He added, "If someone throws stones at a dog, the government is not responsible".
