Patna:
A slipper was flung today at Chief Minister Nitish Kumar -by a man named Nitish Kumar- at the politician's weekly gathering where he takes questions from the public.
The Janta Durbar was held as usual at the Chief Minister's home. He was talking to some people when his namesake targeted him.
"It caught me on my shoulder. See there are marks on my
kurta. The police were taking him away, but I called for him and asked him why he did this," the Chief Minister said.
Later, he was seen seated next to the slipper-thrower who was allegedly upset with a ban on cooking and religious ceremonies during the day, controversially ordered as a precaution against fires in villages.
More than 70 people have died in fires in the last two weeks in villages, the Bihar government says, and
anyone who violates the ban could be jailed for two years.
"Even if someone shoots me dead, I will still enforce this", the Bihar Chief Minister said, stressing that he has urged the police to release the other Nitish Kumar as quickly as possible.
