Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar shares stage today with Mulayam Singh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party and others at a convention against communalism.

  • I congratulate the Left parties for organising the anti-communalism meet
  • There are 17 political parties here - we will not tolerate communalism, that's the message
  • Sitaram Yechury said I'm in the firing line - I want to tell him, we're like a rock. Any bullet with bounce off us

  • This isn't a risk, it's a gamble. We will face the consequences 
  • The effort is to create a rift in society
  • Some people don't want this 'ganga-jamuni tehzeeb' to be intact
  • We have to be careful of elements who want to exploit polarisation

  • Everyone has a right to pray, but there is a time for that but these days it's done every second
  • Some people think that they will gain out of riots
  • We created a commission to re-investigate the Bhagalpur riots and we brought those responsible to justice
  • Those who sold off their land in distress - in 18 cases - the land has been restored to their rightful owners and they also got compensation
  • We shouldn't have such incidents - we can stake our lives but we'll not let anything disturb communal harmony
