The video was taken down after Lallan Ram's drunken rant went viral on social media.
New Delhi:
He is a politician of Bihar's ruling party. Yet, it did not stop him from enjoying a drink - or many - while dissing Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's three-month-old prohibition rule.
After a video of his drunken rant went viral on social media, Lallan Ram has been taken down many pegs. He has been arrested and jailed.
The Janata Dal United has also decided to suspend him for violating the liquor ban and worse - embarrassing the party.
Mr Ram, 36, is a former legislator of the party.
In the video, which became a rage on social media, Mr Ram chugs chilled beer and ridicules the liquor ban, bragging that "nothing will happen to anyone" since he has "
baahubali (muscle power) and Nitish Kumar on his side."
Mr Ram sways a little as he eggs on his companions to drink, assuring that "no one will follow them around".
The video was reportedly filmed last month.
Charged by the excise department and arrested, Mr Ram claimed that the video was a conspiracy against him, and that it was was shot before prohibition began in April.
The opposition BJP has seized the video as proof that the Chief Minister's own party men have left his liquor ban in a shambles.
