Patna, Bihar: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has decided to use a bicycle during his campaign in the upcoming assembly elections in Bihar. This comes after the BJP's announced using a hi-tech Rath (chariot), while Mr Kumar's ally, Lalu Prasad has decided to use TumTum (horse-cart) as their vehicles for the election campaign.
As a part of the campaign, party leaders and cadres of Mr Kumar's Janata Dal United JD (U) will go on bicycle and travel across every nook and corner of the state. Earlier this month, the chief minister had kicked off his "Dustak" campaign involving knocking on people's doors and striking a chord with them, with an aim to reach one crore voters.
The 64-year-old leader claimed that when he stepped down as chief minister after his party's poor performance in the general elections last year, BJP leaders had accused him of resigning out of fear, and that he will have to go through the humiliation of receiving Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
Mr Kumar said, "But today I'm ready and will give him warm welcome. I am waiting to hear what package he announces. Will they be new packages or will old announcements be told as new."
PM Modi is likely to launch the BJP led National Democratic Alliance campaign on July 25 in Patna, where some major announcements for the state are expected.
Yesterday in Patna, Union Agriculture minister and BJP leader, Radha Mohan Singh had said, "The Prime Minister will be the chief guest at ICAR foundation day celebrations here and release 'Vision 2050' for agriculture prepared by it to tackle the challenges of future."
Accusing the BJP of trying to woo voters, Mr Kumar also claimed that BJP workers are distributing sarees brought from Gujarat's Surat district.
