Kochi:
The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh or RSS, the ideological mentor of the Bharatiya Janata Party or BJP, doesn't like it being called a political organization.
Concluding the three-day national executive meeting at Kochi, General Secretary Suresh Joshi said the RSS would begin a massive campaign to ensure the enrolment of voters ahead of the 2014 elections.
On being asked who would they want people to vote for, Mr Joshi said, "It was for the people to decide, but as a responsible organisation they would undertake efforts to ensure all citizens were enrolled."
Speaking on Congress leader Diigvijaya Singh's allegations of the RSS campaigning for its prodigy Narendra Modi, Mr Joshi said, "The Sangh Parivar has no role in selecting the Prime Ministerial candidate. The BJP has done that."
Accusing the Congress government of corruption and other failures, the RSS leader said it is time for the current government to go and "alternatives will emerge which will work for the welfare of the country."
The RSS also passed two resolutions on the Madhav Gadgil Report and Communal & Targeted Violence Bill during its meeting.
The organization has condemned the Centre for rejecting the Gadgil panel report on preservation of Western Ghats and its ecosystem, and called for a larger debate on it.
Opposing the Communal and Targeted Violence Bill, to be introduced during the winter session of Parliament, the RSS maintained that it will only serve vote bank politics for the Congress and create a majority-minority rift among the people.
