Ranchi: The family of the Jharkhand BDO Prashant Kumar Layak is still waiting for his release. Maoists abducted the officer on Saturday, demanding the release of some Maoists in jail.
It's been more than 24 hours since the Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren accepted the Maoists key demand to free arrested villagers and appealed to the Maoists to release the BDO, but there is still no trace of the BDO or any word from the Maoists.
All through the day on Thursday, a large number of villagers gathered near Guda police picket in East Singhbhum district and shouted slogans demanding release of the BDO immediately.
