Noida:
Shankar Dutt, the kidnapped Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority official was rescued early on Wednesday and three of his alleged abductors shot dead in a fierce encounter with police.
Dutt, the personal security officer of Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority CEO, Maninder Singh, was abducted around 5:30 pm Tuesday evening when he was returning home from office, police said.
The abductors then called his family members in Delhi and demanded a ransom of Rs 10 lakh. The family members informed the police who then traced the kidnappers.
The car in which the alleged kidnappers were travelling was traced around 5:00 am on Wednesday in Sector 88. Kidnappers fired at the police team which retaliated. Three kidnappers were injured in the encounter and rushed to a district hospital where they were declared brought dead, they said.
"There was firing from the criminals when they were asked to stop following which police fired in self defence. The criminals got injured and taken to hospital where they were declared dead," Senior Superintendent of Police, Noida, A K Singh said.
Dutt has been admitted to a hospital for a check-up. Police are trying to ascertain the identity of the kidnappers.
