New Delhi:
Heat wave in northern India is likely to abate in next two days with southwest monsoon expected to advance over parts of central and northwest India, Meteorological Department said on Sunday.
"The heat wave conditions prevailing over some parts of north Madhya Pradesh, north Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Chandigarh and at isolated pockets of west Uttar Pradesh will abate from the region during next two days," a release by the Ministry of Earth Science said giving reference to IMD's forecast on Sunday.
The IMD forecast suggested isolated rain or thundershowers over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during next 24 hours.
It also felt that rain or thundershower could also happen at many places over Uttar Pradesh and isolated rain or thunderstorm accompanied with squall is possible over the rest of northwestern region.
Noting that the northern limit of southwest monsoon still passes through Bhuj, Baroda, Indore, Hoshangabad, Rajnandgaon, Cuttack, Balasore, Bankura and Gangtok, the forecast said the conditions are however favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon.
The Met department suggested that the monsoon may advance over some more parts of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Orissa and remaining parts of West Bengal and Sikkim and some parts of Bihar, Jharkhand and East Uttar Pradesh during next two three days.
