Heavy rain in several parts of north India has brought the region to its knees, claiming at least 19 lives over the last three days.

Rescue operation over, restoration work underway: Himachal Chief Minister
 In the wake of excessive rainfall in Himachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday said that the rescue operation in the hill state is nearly over and restoration efforts are still underway.

"The rescue operation is over, the restoration work is ongoing," the Chief Minister said thanking colleagues his across who have worked tirelessly in saving people's lives affected by the floods.

Speaking to ANI, Himachal CM Sukhu said, "I want to thank all for saving people's lives throughout the night. Yesterday at night at 2 pm, we saved 6 lives from Nagwain. Today morning at 5 pm our administration as well as local MLA Sundar Thakur, saved 29 lives."

Himachal's Kangra suffers losses worth Rs 75 crore amid incessant rains
Incessant rains over the past four days have damaged public facilities worth around Rs 75 crore in Kangra, District Collector Nipun Jindal said on Monday.

Earlier in the day, the deputy commissioner apprised Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu of the current situation in the district during a video conference meeting.

Addressing reporters here after the meeting, Jindal said owing to torrential rains from July 6 to July 9, the district suffered losses of Rs 75 crore, of which the Public Works Department (PWD) incurred a loss of about Rs 31 crore.

A total of 66 roads maintained by the PWD were damaged or blocked due to landslides or tree felling, out of which 63 roads have been restored. In addition, 14 more roads in the district got blocked on Monday, Jindal added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday spoke to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and took stock of the situation due to excessive rainfall in the state.

The Prime Minister inquired about the loss of life and property, the condition of roads including the Char Dham Yatra, the condition of agriculture, farmers and crops and the conduct of the Kanwar Yatra.

The Chief Minister gave detailed information about the Char Dham Yatra and Kanwar Yatra along with the loss of public money and blocked roads at various places due to heavy rains.

The Chief Minister also informed about the condition of farmers and crops.

Waterlogging: Delhi mayor inspects central control room of municipal corporation
Mayor Shelly Oberoi on Monday visited the central control room of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi to take stock of the preparations to aid people after incessant rainfall left several areas in the city waterlogged.

Delhi recorded 153 mm of rain in a 24-hour period ending at 8:30 am on Sunday, the highest in a single day in July since 1982, the India Meteorological Department said.

"We have setup MCD Control Room Center to get aid to the people troubled because of incessant rains in Delhi - paid an inspection visit today. #TeamMCD is available, 24x7," Oberoi tweeted and also shared pictures of her visit.

Punjab chief secretary chairs high-level meet with top officials to assess rain situation
 Punjab Chief Secretary Anurag Verma chaired a high-level meeting with senior officials on Monday to take stock of the situation in the state due to continuous heavy rains and to speed up the relief work.

Rains continued to lash parts of Punjab and Haryana on Monday, flooding many places, forcing the mobilisation of Flood Relief columns of the Army's Western Command to assist the two states in rescue and evacuation efforts.

Verma held the meeting with the administrative secretaries of the departments concerned, the deputy commissioners, state police chief Gaurav Yadav, senior superintendents of police and representatives of the Army and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

Delhi rain: Parking attendant dies, shop owner injured in wall collapse incident
A 32-year-old parking attendant died while a 'paan' shop owner was injured after a boundary wall collapsed due to heavy rain in Sunder Nagar here, police said on Monday.

According to police, information was received on Sunday that a boundary wall at Mathura Road, Sunder Nagar has collapsed due to heavy rain.

"Our team reached the spot, hired a private JCB excavator machine and started to remove the debris of the wall. Two people were rescued in an injured condition and sent to hospital," Deputy Commissioner of Police (southeast) Rajesh Deo said.

Delhi Rain News Live: Amid Heavy Rain, Yamuna Crosses Warning Mark In Delhi
The Yamuna crossed the warning mark of 204.5 metres in Delhi as Haryana released more water into the river from the Hathnikund barrage amid persistent rains in the upper catchment areas.

According to a flood bulletin, the water level at the Old Railway Bridge increased 204.63 metres at 1 pm on Monday.

The water level is anticipated to rise to 205.5 metres between 10 am and 12 noon on Tuesday, crossing the danger mark of 205.33 metres.
