New Delhi:
A 19-year-old girl from Nagaland was found murdered in New Delhi on Sunday. A student from IIT Delhi has been arrested in the case.
This isn't an isolated case of violence against women from the Northeast:
24 Oct 2009: 22-year-oldwoman from Arunachal Pradesh was molested in the capital. Delhi policestill has not identified the schoolboys who attacked her.
January 7 2008: Twowomen from the Northeast were molested in broad daylight in Delhi. Whatwas even more appalling is that the police turned a blind eye and filedan FIR only two days later. The two girls owned a cyber cafe.
December 2008: A minor from the Northeast is still suffering after she was molested three times in December by her house owner in Gurgaon.
May 8 2005: The abduction and rape of a Delhi University student from Dhaula Kuan left Delhiites deeply shocked and worried.
Incidentslike these take place at regular intervals, only go on to prove thatthe Delhi Police is yet to take any concrete steps towards ensuring thesafety of women from Northeast in the Capital.
