Northern Railway introduces CCTV surveillance at major stations

New Delhi: The Northern Railway has provided CCTV surveillance system at 20 important stations, including New Delhi, Nizamuddin and Old Delhi railway stations in the national capital, in a bid to boost security arrangements.

The CCTV cameras have been installed at platforms and circulating area and their footage is manned by security personnel round the clock.

The surveillance cameras help provide security to passengers, said a senior Northern  Railway official.

He said the recordings were stored digitally for future analysis.

The access to the footage of the surveillance cameras has also been extended to passenger reservation system (PRS) centres to keep a vigil on activities of unauthorised personnel in the  ticketing areas.

The Northern Railway is reportedly planning to introduce the surveillance system to other major stations in a phased manner.
