Not just a rollback on FDI, Trinamool also wants a bigger room in Parliament

Not just a rollback on FDI, Trinamool also wants a bigger room in Parliament
New Delhi: The Trinamool Congress has a new problem to protest about. Party MPs are sitting on a dharna outside Parliament, which convenes for the Winter Session today, demanding a big enough room to hold meetings.

This is the first session since Mamata Banerjee quit the UPA government in September over its reforms push. Her party has 19 MPs and now that none of them is a minister, they want more space.

The Lok Sabha Speaker has already accepted a Trinamool demand to be treated as a separate block and the party will be given a front seat inside the House once the Parliamentary Affairs Ministry allocates space.

The party has lined up a No-Confidence Motion against the Manmohan Singh government. Ms Banerjee contends that after her exit, the UPA government is in minority and did not have the authority to push Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in multi-brand retail.
