Chandigarh:
A music video reportedly filmed in 2011 features boxer Ram Singh and alleged drug dealer Anup Singh Kahlon, who was arrested last month in Punjab. Drugs worth 130 crores were found at his home.
The Punjab Police says it will use the video to establish that Ram Singh and Mr Kahlon have known each other well for several years.
The drug haul has been grabbing national attention because of allegations, first by Ram Singh, and then by the Punjab Police, that Indian Olympic bronze-medallist boxer
Vijender Singh bought heroin for personal use from Mr Kahlon. Vijender, who is 27, had last month said that allegations that he uses heroin are "ridiculous." Ram Singh is known to be his close friend.
The music video was made for Ram Singh's brother-in-law, a singer and former state-level boxer named Ravi Charan. He has been missing since this weekend when the police found five kilos of party drug methamphetamine at his home. Pseudoephedrine, a banned performance enhancing substance, was also seized from the house, police sources said.
"Vijender Singh consumed the drug about 12 times and Ram Singh about five times," Punjab police said in a statement on Sunday which did not specify how they had reached this conclusion.
Vijender, himself a police officer in the neighbouring state of Haryana, had declined to provide hair and blood samples for testing last month.
He was first linked to Mr Kahlon after his wife's car was found parked at the alleged drug dealer's home.
