Now, a teenager faces Mayawati's wrath

Mukundpur (Uttar Pradesh):

There are not just political leaders who take on Mayawati and earn her wrath. Here is a report on how a school going teenager, who scribbled a threat letter to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister in his answer sheet, is now paying a price.

In the tiny village of Mukundpur in Deoria district, a father waits for his teenaged son to return. Qayamuddin Ansari, a Class XII student in Uttar Pradesh, ran away in June, after scribbling a threat to kill Chief Minister Mayawati in his answer sheet after being given a wrong question paper on the exam day in April.

Barely three days after his paper was evaluated at this college in Muzaffarnagar, and the nature of his defamatory remarks leaked, it was clear that Ansari would have to face Mayawati's wrath.

Criminal charges were framed and Ansari faced up to seven years in jail. Although the case was later dropped, the UP education board practically ended his future. He was barred from taking further exams in the state. But it's not just Ansari who was at the receiving end.

"We got a letter which states that four of us have been barred from conducting exam work. The letter also stated that disciplinary action is being taken against us," said Shiv Kumar Yadav, principal, DAV Inter College.
