Nupur Talwar fasts on daughter's fourth death anniversary
Ghaziabad: On the fourth death anniversary of her daughter Aarushi, Nupur Talwar observed fast and performed pujas in the prison today. Nupur, inmate number 70 of barrack 13 at Dasna Jail, kept a half day fast.

"Nupur asked for permission from the prison authorities to keep the fast and perform some rituals. She was granted the permission for a half day fast and reciting Hanuman Chalisa and Bhagwad Gita," Jail Superintendent Viresh Raj Sharma said.

Under jail manual one cannot observe fast as a mark of protest but her fast is concerned to religious issue which cannot be denied, Mr Sharma said.

She had also burnt a candle in the memory of her daughter last night.

Before appearing in a CBI's special court on Wednesday she was seen doing Yoga at the prison.

Demanding justice, school children in Ghaziabad and Noida also offered prayers and lit candles last night.

Fourteen-year-old Aarushi was found dead with her throat slit at her Noida residence on May 16, 2008. The body of domestic help Hemraj was recovered from the terrace a day later.

A special CBI court on Wednesday fixed May 21 for start of arguments on framing of charges against dentist couple Nupur and Rajesh Talwar.
