Bhubaneswar: Odisha Health Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak on Friday resigned in the wake of the fire at SUM hospital that has claimed 25 lives.
Odisha government has issued a show cause notice to SUM Hospital asking it to explain as to why its clinical licence should not be cancelled in the wake of the fire mishap where 25 people died.
The notice was issued by the District Collector of Khurda, who had granted conditional certificate of registration to maintain a clinical establishment on July 7.
The Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police arrested four hospital officials, including owner Manoj Nayak on Thursday.
The relative of each of the person killed in the fire would receive a compensation of Rs. 12 lakh, which includes Rs. 5 lakh from the hospital and Rs. 5 lakh from State government.
Besides, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from the Prime Minister's Relief Fund.
