Odisha MLA abduction: Retired Army officer moves court to stop release of Maoists
Bhubaneswar: A retired Army officer has moved the Supreme Court to stop the Odisha government from releasing jailed Maoists in exchange of abducted Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Jhina Hikaka. The Supreme Court has agreed to hear the plea tomorrow.

Retired Major General Gangdeep Bakshi filed the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Supreme Court seeking to prevent the release of the Maoists from prison. He wanted the matter to be heard today because the deadline for the Odisha government to release the Maoists in exchange of Mr Hikaka ends today at 5 pm.

However, the Supreme Court told Major General Bakshi, "you are coming at the eleventh hour and you can't hold us as hostage." It said it will take up the case tomorrow.
