Bhubaneswar: Odisha is likely to experience heavy rainfall in next 24 hours due to formation of a well-marked low-pressure area over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of West Bengal today, IMD sources said.
Stating that the system is likely to concentrate into a depression during the next 24 hours, an IMD bulletin said rain or thunder shower was "very likely" to occur at most places over north Odisha and many places over southern region of the state during the next 24 hours.
"Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over Odisha with extremely heavy rainfall at one or two places over districts of North Odisha during next 24 hours," the bulletin said in its warning.
Though there was no advice for hoisting the Storm Warning Signals, it cautioned fishermen against venturing into sea as the condition would be "rough to very rough" along Odisha coast.
Under its impact, gusty surface wind with speed reaching 45-50 kmph to 60 kmph may lash Odisha coast, it said.
