Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is addressing a press conference in Jammu about the floods that have ravaged his state.
More than 100 people are reported to have died in the worst flood the state has seen in the last sixty years.

- There are almost 100 casualties due to the floods.
- We are only counting confirmed deaths, where bodies have been recovered.
- 390 villages out of 3000 villages in Kashmir division are completely inundated.
- Even fields have been affected on both sides Jammu as well as Kashmir
- Bridges have either been damaged or been washed away completely
- Efforts are on to join cut off areas in Both Jammu and Kashmir division
- Fruit crop in both divisions has been badly affected by the rains.
- Some water supply schemes are not working at all, some are partially working.
- We will work on getting them back in working order.
- Centre has assured helped in the situation.
- Rescue work is our priority, followed by rehabilitation.
- Entire Poonch District is without electricity due to main supply towers falling.
- We have access to Rs 1000 crore in emergency disaster funds.
- Home Minister has assured complete help from the centre.
- Want to assure people we will not leave their hand at this hour
- I have never seen such conditions before.
- We would have rescued more people but inclement weather did not allow us.
- There is a shortage of boats, but we have been arranging sending boats to affected areas.
- We need tents, boats, blankets and medicine.
- We have requested the central government to help in procurement of medicines and clean water
- I would like to thank all those who helped us at this hour of crisis, Army, J&K police, Centre has assured us of all possible help
- We did our best but at some places people did not not co-operate with early rescue efforts.
- Will order inquiries in broken bridges and other infrastructure in due time. Right now priority is rescue work
