Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said the decision regarding vacation of land by army converted a political decision into an administrative one.

Srinagar: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has questioned the "secrecy" around the meeting between Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti and BJP chief Amit Shah over government formation in the state.

"Why the secrecy this time around? Last time she met with flowers and shawls being exchanged," Mr Abdullah wrote on Twitter.

Ms Mufti met Mr Shah yesterday as intense efforts began to form a government in Jammu and Kashmir, which is under Governor's Rule since January 8 following death of incumbent Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed a day earlier.

On the announcement regarding vacation of land under Army use, Mr Abdullah suggested that Governor NN Vohra had "converted political decision into administrative one".

"Gov Vohra's decisions regarding vacation of land by army convert a political decision into an administrative one, thus denying Mehbooba/PDP credit," he said.

"The same has happened with the flood relief which flowed after Gov Vohra took charge but was missing during late Mufti Sayeed's rule," Mr Abdullah added.
